I'm Fay, and this is my husband, Erskine Knowles. ❤️ We met in Nassau, Bahamas, back in September 1965. 🎸 Erskine is a talented guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter from Long Island, Bahamas, while I'm an author and a singer, born in Stirling, Scotland. After spending years in England, I moved to Canada but quickly escaped to The Bahamas to avoid the brutal winter after just four months. 🌎 I thought I’d only be here for three months, ready to travel the world, but then I met Erskine after just a month! 💍 Nine months later, we were married in this beautiful paradise. Who knew a chance encounter would lead to a lifetime together? 🥰

Erskine Knowles first wrote this inspirational song "Born Again" as a prayer in 2014. Then he put music to it and changed it to a song in 2015.

In 1965 he had a band called "The Invaders" in the Lisbon Club on Bay Street, Nassau, and played at parties around the island. He's jammed with many musicians over the years in The Bahamas and overseas.

Erskine wrote this song "Young Hearts" about when he and Fay first met in September 1965. She had to go back to England that Christmas but she returned one day early on Boxing Day and he proposed!

Bahamian singer, song writer, entertainer and storyteller Phil Stubbs is from Dumfries, Cat Island, but now resides in Grand Bahama. He is well known throughout The Bahamas.

Peachy Thurston, Bahamian History Enthusiast and Admin for the Facebook group “The Bahamas: Past and Present”, says: “Phil Stubbs is well known for his popular songs that describe the beauty of The Bahamas and mention the people and Bahamian culture. In his lyrics, Stubbs encourages Bahamians to lift their heads, persevere and live together in harmony.”

"INDEPENDENCE MORNING" - PRISCILLA ROLLINS 1973

“Independence Morning” is a song celebrating Bahamian Independence, written by famed Bahamian producer and entertainer Tony McKay a.k.a. Exuma The Obeah Man. It was first performed publicly by Bahamian musical icon Priscilla Rollins on July 10th, 1973, when The Bahamas became an independent nation 🇧🇸 The song beautifully captures the enthusiasm of our newly independent nation. 🎶 Priscilla received widespread acclaim for her patriotic performances. 🌟

Affectionately known as the “Bahamian Queen of Soul”, Priscilla Rollins was a Bahamian entertainer and international recording artist.

Born in Nassau, Bahamas, Priscilla got her musical start as a teenager singing with her mother in a gospel group of the late 50s - 60s called the Strachans Coral Group. As a teenager she also honed her skills singing at various talent shows and matinee dances. In the mid to late 60s Priscilla joined producer Cedric Munnings’ group The Mighty Makers. The group gained much national success and some international notoriety. The group performed at almost all of the hotspots of the era such as the Coyaba Room, Central Highway, and a club called Sin! In 1972 Priscilla left the group to pursue a solo career, teaming up with Tony McKay. McKay took her to New York where she recorded her first album on the former Roulette label. OUR WEDDING 59 YEARS AGO!

This is fun! Son Rory did photo animation of our old wedding photo and brought Erskine and me to life!

"59 years ago yesterday July 2nd Erskine and I were married in St Anne's Anglican Church, Fox Hill, Nassau, Bahamas. The priest, Father King, told me he didn't believe in a bride being late for her wedding so he wouldn't marry us if I was late! Imagine how frantic I was when the limousine Erskine had booked for me and the Father Giver, Erskine's boss Mr Ashton (who didn't have a car), didn't turn up for me! Fortunately a good friend of Erskine's, Levi Wilson, stopped by to see if I needed any help. I told him just get me to the church on time please! We sped down Village Road in Levi's old car, along the Eastern Road, with me in full bridal attire, brown paper packages in the back and Levi wearing an old straw hat! I also have a photo of me picking up my skirts and running into the church! Fortunately I got there in time!"
