Jamaican poet, folklorist, actress, writer and singer Louise Bennett-Coverley recorded "Brown Girl in The Ring" in 1957 on an album of Children's Jamaican Songs and Games, which was re-released by Smithsonian Folkways in 2007. (Source: Zingzangwallawalla).
Cover sung here by Bahamian guitarist/vocalist Erskine Knowles (my hubby!). And I chime in too!

Had an encouraging comment from one of our music video
followers! - "I love how you write about the song in the description, i
learn more and more everyday from it."
It was nice to know this as I spend quite a lot of
time researching the songs before recording. Then I add the composers' names,
who made each song famous and where the songs went to in the charts. This is
all done before I upload them!
I'm trying to find a way to upload more music videos here.
Unfortunately, the Blogger app doesn't work for my country (The Bahamas) and I
can't do it easily on desktop.
I just happened to take a look at my collection of twelve romantic short stories SUNBEAMS FROM THE HEART on Amazon, and saw this comment from Amazon itself! Interesting!
“Customers enjoy the short stories in this collection. They find the stories delightful and heartwarming, ideal for holiday reading or any time they want to feel loved. The author develops each plot with care. AI-generated from the text of customer reviews.”
SUNBEAMS FROM THE HEART is available on Amazon and at other online book retailers in paperback (regular and large print) and as an e-book. I think a few copies are still available at Logos, Harbour Bay, Nassau. Copies of Sunbeams from the Heart make beautiful gifts! Go to SUNBEAMS FROM THE HEART
