A Cocoplum |
On New
Providence at this time of year, Bahamians can often be seen along
the roadsides where cocoplum trees are growing. The trees flourish in low lying
areas where rain water settles. There are many along the airport road.
A cluster of Cocoplums |
Erskine loved picking the little
cocoplums on Long Island , while he was growing
up. In those days the children didn’t have many manufactured sweets, which was
probably a good thing! The Long Island
families lived off the land and the sea – a very healthy life.
