A young Bahamian man who
lives in a middle income area of New Providence, and who struggles to make a
living, recently told me: “It's very expensive to be poor in the Bahamas !”
I touch on the plight of the
poor in The Bahamas in my novel “Love at Sunset”, as well as the extraordinary
lives of the wealthy.
I read 'Love at Sunset' and I must say you did an excellent job portraying the lives of the rich, the poor and middle class in The Bahamas, Fay. It was an interesting, exciting read which I enjoyed tremendously.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tanya! So glad you enjoyed "Love at Sunset".
DeleteI think that's probably true everywhere. If we have the money we can buy in bulk or get extra when things are on offer and we don't need to take out expensive loans. Those who are less fortunate can find themselves in a vicious cycle of paying off debts and buying at high prices.
ReplyDeleteAnd this young man lives in a small place where he probably doesn't have any room to store a lot of stuff, as well as no car to pick it up.
