MANIPULATING CHARACTERS IN A NOVEL!

The original manuscript for "Dangerous Devotion"
(formerly "Love at Sunset") before it was published!

I'm sending Violet and Gordon to Long Island again! They are the main protagonists in my Buchanan Mystery Romance Series. I am currently working on Book Three of the series. Violet and Gordon appear throughout. They love Long Island and have a little beachfront cottage there. They also love Scotland, where Gordon is from.

We authors enjoy manipulating the characters in our books. We can send them anywhere we want and navigate their lives!

You can purchase Book One (Dangerous Devotion) and Book Two (Deadly Deceit In Paradise) by clicking on the book cover links to the left of this page. You can also go to Amazon and put my name Fay Knowles in the search box. It will come up with all of my books on my Amazon author page (as e-books and in paperback). You may be able to special order paperbacks through your local bookstore as well.

LIVE EXMOUTH AIR RADIO INTERVIEW!

Well, I've done it! Had a live radio interview early this morning by Exmouth Air Radio Presenter Howard James. My first one ever! Had to get up at 5.15 a.m. for 6.20 a.m. start (Bahamas time) and I'm not normally an early riser!

The interview lasted about 40 minutes and from Tuesday will run 24/7 for two weeks on Exmouth Air Radio's website. The segment will be downloadable from Tuesday, so I'll post the link when it's available. Howard had contacted me about my books after reading one of my Devon press releases.

WHAT TO DO WITH OLD MANUSCRIPTS!

MANUSCRIPT FOR ROMANTIC SUSPENSE NOVEL
"LOVE AT SUNSET" BY FAY KNOWLES
INSIDE MANUSCRIPT FOR "LOVE AT SUNSET"

What do YOU do with your old manuscripts after your work has been published?! I’ve been doing a lot of purging and was going to throw away my manuscript for my romantic suspense novel “Love at Sunset”, because after all, it’s published and I have hard copies of the actual book! However, son Gavin said: “Oh no, you should keep it, as you never know, a movie producer might contact you about the book and want you to send them the original manuscript!” Here it is above, all 325 double-spaced typed pages of it, showing a bit of the content! This converted to 360 pages in the regular print published book.

And here’s a short description: “Facing imminent danger and fierce opposition to love a second time around, Violet and Gordon seek a new life in Scotland, thousands of miles away from where they live in Nassau, Bahamas, but trouble soon catches up with them. The couple finds themselves in and out of one adventure after another! In the meantime, an unscrupulous attorney appears on the scene back home, along with a crooked realtor. What they do and the extent they would go to leads to a shocking ending. Greed, jealousy, family secrets and bitter grudges worm their way throughout this story!”

“Love at Sunset: A Romantic Suspense” set in The Bahamas and Scotland, with scenes in Fort Lauderdale, New York, London and Devon, is available on Amazon as an e-book and in paperback (regular and large print):

FREE LUXURY BOOK PROMOTION!

Wow! I wouldn’t mind this kind of free promotion for my books. A “Daily Mail” article tells how Scottish cook book author Karon Grieve was treated to private jet treatment after she was the only passenger on a £46 JET2 flight from Glasgow to Crete!

At the time of this article Karon was working on her romantic crime novel “A Cosy Crime”.

I love writing these articles about bestselling author Tanya R. Taylor! She is forever coming out with her own amazing brand of great books, which I always can’t wait to read.

I LOVE MY KINDLE!

Although I still need to have regular paperback or hard cover books that I can actually feel and smell, I do love reading books on my Kindle.

The Kindle is handy to read with while on the treadmill at the gym. Also, when lights are dim at night the bright screen is a great help. I also find it easier to read outside, even on the beach. Paperbacks are difficult to keep open in the wind and the print gets smudged with suntan lotion!

And then there are those long trips, when I might want to take a few books with me. All of them are condensed on my Kindle, instead of weighting down my luggage.

For those of you who don’t have a Kindle, no problem. The free Kindle app can be downloaded from Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/kindle-dbs/fd/kcp for most major smart phones, tablets and computers.

FOR THE LOVE OF BOOKS AND WRITING

Some of my books on writing!

The spark for my love of books and writing dates back to my early childhood at Boquhan, Scotland. At the time, my family and I lived with my grandparents in a cottage on the large estate where my grandfather worked.

I remember being allowed into the library in the “big hoose” as we called it. As a tiny girl, I was in awe of the shelves of books, which reached high up to the ceiling. I could hardly even reach the lower shelves, so my grandmother would hand some of the books to me. It was almost impossible for me to understand the small writing and long words, but I thrilled at the touch of the books and the window on the world that they opened up.

I write about Boquhan Estate in “The Scottish Connection”. And Gordon, one of the protagonists in “Love at Sunset”, has similar experiences with a library in an old house!

BOOK TRAILERS ROCK!

What an age we are living in! Social media spreads word (or our words) like crazy. We can download or order books from online websites and receive digital books instantly on hand held devices or paperbacks delivered within a very short space of time. And no longer are trailers reserved just for big screen movies. These days we can watch a book trailer to see if a particular book tickles our fancy and even preorder it ahead of the release date.

Click the link below to watch an exciting trailer for internationally recognized and bestselling Bahamian author Tanya R. Taylor’s upcoming book 10 MINUTES BEFORE SLEEPING! Tanya is the author of Amazon No.1 Bestsellers “CORNELIUS” & “INFESTATION: A Small Town Nightmare.”

10 MINUTES BEFORE SLEEPING, “A Story of Abandonment, Domestic Terror & Bitter Revenge,” is now available to preorder at Amazon and other online retailers for a release date of February 25, 2017.

“10 Minutes before Sleeping is a powerful story of a young woman named Eva left on the doorstep of a neighbor as a child by her very own mother. She is abused, neglected, rejected and without a legal footing in the only place she knows as ‘home’. All the odds appear to be stacked against her and those looking from the outside in seriously wonder how one human being could be expected to battle such atrocities without making a fateful decision to end it all far quicker than it ever began.

“As a young girl, Eva struggles to obtain an education at the resistance of a woman who was left with the responsibility to raise her, but years later finally finds what she believes is true love. This event, ironically, progresses to a further downward spiral that costs this young woman her three most precious gifts in the world, thus evoking a snap decision that occurs ten minutes before sleeping.”

The trailer for 10 MINUTES BEFORE SLEEPING has definitely tickled my fancy. I can’t wait to read this book!

I had the pleasure on Tuesday of meeting in Starbucks, Melia Nassau Beach Resort, Cable Beach, with six established local authors for a chat about writing and publishing. Here’s a photo that appeared in today’s Tribune. As you can see from the scattering of books, along with coffee cups and goodie bags, we had a great time!

TRY A LITTLE ROMANCE!

Romances don’t always need to be sickly sweet! My romantic short stories feature a man and a woman who meet in quite ordinary or sometimes unexpected circumstances. I like to bring two people together, who had no idea they might end up with each other. Of course, in most cases there is a stumbling block to their future happiness. True love does not always come easy!

Love themes in “Sunbeams from the Heart – A Collection of Twelve Romantic Short Stories” tell of nostalgia, bright new beginnings, homecoming, second chances, and the unexpected.

Someone recently told me, “Before reading your book ‘Sunbeams from the Heart’, I didn't really like reading romantic stories. That was not my thing at all. However, after reading your collection of romantic short stories I got so into it you hooked me! I'm now looking forward to more of your romances!”

And from a comment on my blog, “I love this collection of short stories! And what's so good is that you can read them again and have the same great feeling as you did reading them the first time!”

An Amazon reviewer wrote, “What a pleasure to come across twelve wholesome and romantic short stories as found in ‘Sunbeams From The Heart’.”

Not only did “Sunbeams from the Heart” make Amazon's top 100 paid best-sellers' list in the Literature & Fiction/Short stories category, but this book was next to Stephen King’s “Hearts in Atlantis” in Amazon's Best Sellers in Literary Short Stories!

One month later Sunbeams from the Heart again made the top 100 paid bestsellers' list in the Literature & Fiction/Short Stories category, this time alongside Agatha Christie's "Miss Marple - The Complete Short Stories". Miss Marple was number 45 and Sunbeams number 44.

Try a little romance. You might like it!

“Sunbeams from the Heart – A Collection of Twelve Romantic Short Stories” is available as an e-book and in paperback (regular and large print) HERE and in countries around the world where Amazon features an online store.
