In an article on Crossway.org, Michael Reeves writes about famous preacher Charles Haddon Spurgeon who passed away January 31, 1892, in the southeast of France after 24 years of ill health. He was just 57 years old. Reeves says Spurgeon used to retreat to Menton near Nice in the winter months for health reasons.
Reeves relates how
Spurgeon published some eighteen million words in his lifetime, selling over
fifty-six million copies of his sermons in nearly forty languages. Spurgeon
also read six books a week!
If Charles
Spurgeon could do all that in his short lifetime, surely we can attempt if only
a tiny minuscule of what Spurgeon achieved!
