KIWANIS CLUB OF NEW PROVIDENCE CHILDREN'S BOOK DONATION DRIVE
During The Kiwanis
Club of New Providence Children’s Book Donation Drive outside Logos Book Store,
Harbour Bay Shopping Centre, Nassau, recently, I bought a copy of “Alice's Adventures in
Wonderland” from Logos and dropped it into their donation box. I told the
Kiwanis ladies how my mother sent me to elocution lessons when we moved from
Scotland to England because my Scottish accent had become mixed up with a
Birmingham accent and it was difficult to understand what I said! I can’t
remember how old I was, but I was younger than ten. I had to memorize pages of
“Alice's Adventures in Wonderland” in order to recite them during my elocution lessons!
The Club’s Vice
President Dominique Rolle was delighted with my little Alice in Wonderland tale
and asked if I could give a video interview about it. I agreed and here it is!

The Kiwanis Club
of New Providence is a non-profit organization that is a part of Kiwanis
International. They are a service club that gives back to the community through
service projects – a wonderful group of very dedicated and hard working ladies!

An Island-style Writing and Wellness Retreat will be held in Governor’s Harbour, Eleuthera, Bahamas, May 18 – 23, 2019. It is a great opportunity for established or aspiring writers and will be hosted by Chrissann Nickel of Women Who Live on Rocks and Mariah Moyle of Out Island Life Bahamas.
Chrissann says on her website Womenwholiveonrocks.com: “This Bahamas retreat has been specially designed to provide participants with a purposeful mid-year pause to assess where you’re at and where you want to go with your writing and creative pursuits in the second half of the year.”

BUY A BOOK FOR A CHILD!
The dedicated Kiwanis
volunteers asked to take a photo
of me dropping a children’s book into their
box!

The Kiwanis Club
of New Providence are having another Children’s Book Donation Drive on
Saturday, January 12th, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Logos Book Store,
Harbour Bay (they had one today). They are also having the Book Donation Drive
at Bookworld Stationers.
Children’s books
are not necessarily expensive. At today’s Book Donation Drive, I bought “Alice
in Wonderland” from Logos for just under $9 and there were some as low as
around $5.
For further
information on the Kiwanis Book Donation Drive, telephone 242-477-4614. It’s a
very worthwhile cause. I hope one of the children will enjoy Alice in
Wonderland as much as I did!
