LOVE, MYSTERY & SECRET PASSAGES!

I have been asked if Craigenveoch, which I wrote about in my mini-memoir “The Scottish Connection”, was the setting for the Scottish part of my novel “Dangerous Devotion” (Book One in my Buchanan Mystery Romance Series, set in The Bahamas and Scotland). I actually drew on my experiences as a child at Boquhan Cottage on the Boquhan Old House estate for the novel and I researched old Scottish houses like Boquhan and Craigenveoch to ensure that my descriptions were accurate for the era when they were built.

There was no secret passage in Boquhan or Craigenveoch houses, as far as I know. I wrote about this spooky feature completely from my imagination in "Dangerous Devotion"! However, from my research I found that secret passages were often included in these old homes when they were built, because of the religious unrest at the time. Priests and soldiers sometimes needed a place to lie low and to have a quick escape route!

“Dangerous Devotion” is available as an e-book and in paperback at

THE JOY OF HAPPY READERS!

I recently a ninety year old family friend with a copy of my novel "Deadly Deceit in Paradise" (Book Two in my Buchanan Mystery Romance Series). He said: I loved everything about it. It went from one thing to the next. Kept you on your toes!" He has read it twice and plans on reading it again. He explained: "As soon as I finished reading it the first time, I wanted to read it again."

He had previously bought a copy of "Dangerous Devotion" (Book One in my Buchanan Mystery Romance Series) and had loved that too! He read "Dangerous Devotion" twice as well and had planned on reading it a third time after a brief break, so that it would be "all new to me again!"

At the time, he said he loved the main characters Violet and Gordon and found the plot really exciting. He also said he immersed himself in the settings and felt like he was actually going to Scotland himself and “enjoying the atmosphere”! Violet and Gordon also feature in "Deadly Deceit In Paradise".

He was pleased when I told him Violet and Gordon would feature again in the Buchanan Mystery Series Book Three, which I am currently working on. He said: "It will be good to meet old friends again!"

It is so rewarding to authors when readers get pleasure out of our books.

LATER IN LIFE ROMANCE!

My Romantic Suspense novel “Love at Sunset” is being featured on LaterInLifeRomance.comCLICK HERE!

The Later In Life Romance website is “a lightly curated site where readers can browse romances featuring older characters.” Creator Donna McDonald says: “Are you over 40 and tired of reading romances with characters half your age? You’ve come to the right place. Here you will find an assortment of stories with heroes and heroines you can easily relate to and be inspired by. The mantra and theme of all these stories is that it truly is never too late in life to find romance and love… and great sex. We hope you enjoy what you find here. A link to the author’s website is included in each feature.”

Now there’s no “great sex” in Love at Sunset! However, it’s full of romance, adventure and suspense that I think you will really enjoy.

LONG ISLAND FEATURES IN ROMANTIC SUSPENSE NOVEL LOVE AT SUNSET!

Here’s one of the Long Island scenes from my Romantic Suspense novel “Love at Sunset”, which is set in The Bahamas and Scotland! …..

“Halfway there, he stopped the car abruptly, cursing. A small herd of goats stood in front of him. He was about to manoeuvre his way around them, but hesitated when the leader of the herd bolted out of the bushes, onto the track, and blocked his way. The large ram stood, flexing his strong shoulders and shaking his sharp horns. He stared directly at Tate for a moment and then lunged towards the car, scattering his harem. Tate pressed the gas pedal and swerving back and forwards to avoid a collision with the huge creature, managed to speed past it.

“He looked back as he drove away from the herd. They stood watching him, not moving.”

About Love at Sunset:

“Facing imminent danger and fierce opposition to love a second time around, Violet and Gordon seek a new life thousands of miles away, but trouble soon catches up with them. The couple finds themselves in and out of one adventure after another!

”In the meantime, an unscrupulous attorney appears on the scene, along with a crooked realtor. What they do and the extent they would go to leads to a shocking ending. Greed, jealousy, family secrets and bitter grudges worm their way throughout this story!”

ADVENTURE IN THE SCOTTISH COUNTRYSIDE!

My romantic suspense novel “Love at Sunset” is romance, drama, suspense, adventure and action all rolled into one! Here’s an excerpt from the book, where Gordon and Violet are exploring the grounds of an historic old Scottish house:

“Gordon helped her up. She held on to him, as he tenderly dried each of her feet with his handkerchief and pushed them into the sandals. Then they made their way back to the house, where their car was parked. As they approached, they came across an astonishing scene, something they never expected to see in the middle of the Scottish countryside.”

UPCOMING BOOK RELEASE - THE SCOTTISH CONNECTION!

COMING SOON!
My illustrated mini-memoir “The Scottish Connection”. This will be available as an e-book and in paperback.

Driving long distances in a short space of time throughout the United Kingdom is the norm nowadays. However, in the seventies it was often an adventure to cover the length or breadth of Britain. In this mini-memoir I share memories of my 1978 journey back to Scotland with my mother and young sons, to revisit our Scottish roots.

The Scottish Connection contains a wealth of information – Scottish ancestry, historical facts, genealogy, comparable 1978 prices, geographical descriptions, personal anecdotes, nostalgia and precious old photos.
